( Breeding , Physical treatments and chemical treatments) • Having good technical knowledge in any type of plants propagation. • Having adequate technical knowledge in organic solid and liquid fertilizer production and organic firming. • Having adequate technical knowledge of indigenous plant growth nutrients production. • + years of working experience in rose and orchid floriculture unit. Practical (Hands-On) Experience: • Main function in performing plant micro propagation using aseptic techniques in clean room. • Select high quality mother plant or live material with the desired characteristics. • Cut, sterilize, test for viruses and other diseases, and prepare selected tissues for propagation. • To support in vitro plant culture work, involving media preparation, and maintaining a culture collection. • Preparing schedules for the micro propagation with consideration of numbers of plants required, stocks on hand, work priorities and others relevant factors. • Ensure the continuous production of plantlets. • Perform daily replacing of cultured plant material onto fresh media under sterile conditions. • Monitors and records daily plant production and prepares weekly and monthly reports. • Preparation of stock solutions for culture media. • Implementation of new protocols to bring new plants into production within special growth media. • Maintains a high degree of sterile working conditions to reduce the occurrence of contaminated media / plantlets. • Plan, organize and execute experimental works as discussed by the research team. • Record all observations, data and results. • Assist in analyzing the results. • Upkeep and maintain the Lab records. • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analysis. • Provide support for the implementation of Good Laboratory Practices. • Assist in the order & maintenance of lab supplies. • Assist in setting up equipment. • Clean, sterilize and maintain equipment and facilities. • Prepare lab reagents and media. • Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature and contributes to the process of a project within his or her scientific discipline. • To support routine work carried out in the general laboratory and to support and supervise staffs. • To support molecular systematic work involving plants. • Undertake emergency work as and when required. • Ensures work is completed to Departmental standards. • Assist in some administration work. • Record : date culture flasks are replaced, usage of alcohol and disinfectants, fertilizer and chemical registers, asset inventory / stock controls, uniforms and protected clothing Issues and other necessary records. • Prepare nursery records. • Ensures that all staffs adhere to all safety requirements allied to the operation. • Conduct routine safety inspections of all plant, machinery equipment and buildings reporting all breakages / problems to the Tissue Culture Technician. • Perform all relevant work / activities assigned by superiers.
