ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Application of Renewable Energy Systems to the Olympics – August
- Lead a team of four and proposed a solution for the integration of Renewable Energy Technologies in the hypothetical development of Olympic Village in the City of Chicago.
- Surveyed the site and the climatic conditions to understand the problem and options for comprehensive strategies will then be arrived at.
- The scope of the proposal included solutions for built environments both new and existing that would be used as venues and also a solution for transportation systems that would supplement existing mass transit.
Protein Adsorption- A study of the mobility of adsorbed proteins- October
- Studied the adsorption of lysozyme on a solid surface, using Brownian dynamics simulations.
- Compared various methods used for the study or adsorption kinetics including optical, spectroscopic and electric methods
Energetic and Exergetic Analysis of a Thermal Power Plant in Turkey- February
- Developed Thermodynamic model of the plant based on the First and Second laws of Thermodynamics.
- Conducted design point performance analyses based on energetic and exergetic performance criteria such as thermal efficiency, exergy efficiency, exergy loss, exergetic performance coefficient.
Enhanced Geothermal Systems in the United States- November
- Conducted a feasibility study of EGS as a mainstream source of energy
- Assessed the potential environmental impacts and economic viability of using EGS technology to greatly increase the fraction of the U.S. geothermal resource that could be recovered commercially.
Comparison of on-site natural gas thermal generation unit Vs. electric heat generation on a hypothetical large hospital in Chicago- March
