Qualification:

A year experience with Westchester Medical Center as a phlebotomist. Two years of experience with Woodhull Medical Center as a Patient Care Associate, Six month with Woodhull Medical Center Dialysis Unit. Extensive patient relation with various age and culture groups and well trained in blood collection using different types of needles such as the butterfly, syringe, straight needle, button hole needle, and rope ladder technique in less than minutes. Also have experience in helping patients with chronic Kidney disease (CKD) receive safe and effective dialysis. Well trained in the Operation of Dialysis machine. Experienced in monitoring patient while undergoing Dialysis and checking vital signs. Able to perform patient care services such as Dialysis machine set up, sanitization of Dialysis machine, blood sugar level check, EKG and escort services as directed by the supervisor. Work Experience:
Monitor the patient\'s vital sign. Ensure that the dialysis machine is working properly and that blood is moving through the tubes. Check blood chemistry to see if waste products are being removed. Record treatment information. Clean and repair equipment as needed


Responsibilities included performing a variety of routine blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture, techniques using standard equipment to include vaccutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes and butterfly needles, conferring with patient to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation. Utilize standard procedures for the maintenance of positive patient identification; record appropriately collection information on proper requisitions. Other duties include: preparing, processing, labeling and storing patient specimens and samples according to departmental procedures using standard techniques and equipment, for subsequent analysis by Clinical Laboratory staff, maintaining inventory of supplies; reordering as required; stocking supplies on carts and hand trays. Performed other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
