Student Interns in the Planning and Acquisition Unit will receive training and mentoring and will provide assistance with real property responsibilities for capital improvement projects, in the areas of land acquisition, appraisals, dispositions, and other assignments as needed.

Responsibilities include learning and assisting with preparing documents (agreements, permits, deeds); conducting studies and research; assisting in correspondence with property owners and internal Metropolitan groups; compiling information from various sources; providing updates and preparing reports; collecting and analyzing statistical data; generating and maintaining records and report findings; making recommendations; and lastly, learning and assisting other real estate classifications in performing ad hoc assignments related to the Planning and Acquisition Unit.

This Student Intern position will be located at Metropolitan’s Headquarters Building in Downtown Los Angeles.

WORK SCHEDULE:
• Full-time (during summer break) and/or Part-time (up to 18 hours per week)
• The estimated length of the assignment will range from three to twelve months. Dates are flexible.
• The length of the term will be determined based on the student's class schedule, availability, and employer needs.

PAY RATE:

• Undergraduate Students: $25.00 per hour

• Seniors and Graduate Students: $27.23 per hour

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university carrying a minimum of 12 semester units or 8 quarter units with JUNIOR or SENIOR standing in a related major AND maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or current enrollment in an accredited graduate degree program in a related major with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented
• Strong personal interaction skills
• Ability to research, collect and analyze data
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
