As a Senior Information Technology Network Engineer you will lead and design network systems; provide support for network systems; track, monitor and troubleshoot network hardware and software; lead and perform network research and development; perform network configuration, optimization, installation, upgrades, and testing; analyze requests and provide customer assistance for solutions.
This is a senior position that leads the design, maintenance, and support of the MWD Enterprise Network infrastructure which includes Cisco and Arista routers and layer 3 internal/external routing protocols – Cisco and Arista switches and layer 2 services such as VLANS, trunks, port-channels, and spanning tree protocols – Palo Alto firewalls and security policy, VPN, and network address translation – F5 application load balancing and Web Application Firewall services – IPAM services for DNS and DHCP – Layer 1 services including single mode fiber, multimode fiber, fiber trays, and power distribution units.
Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday/Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm.
Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.
This position may require coming in more than 2 days per week based on business needs or projects.
Expectations of Hours of Service, Emergency and Stand-by Service: Employees in this position may be required to work rotating shifts and/or stand-by service to address operational needs and emergencies as required. May be required to work extended periods away from the normal reporting location. Must be able to work rotating shifts (Rotating weekly post, 24/7, including weekends).
Travel: This position will require travel to various District facilities throughout the service area, sometimes requiring overnight stay in the project area.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience.
Relevant Experience is defined as: experience managing data center and campus networks; AND knowledge and experience managing multiple network operating systems, including cloud systems.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:
• Certificate(s): CCIE Cisco Certified Internetworking Engineer or Equivalent
• License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
