As an Assistant Engineer I within the Water Purification Unit and Water Reuse & Process Development Team, you will work alongside experienced groups within Metropolitan to assist with designing, developing, and testing systems aimed at ensuring 100% compliance with primary drinking water standards in the design and operations of Metropolitan’s water systems. You will assist higher level staff as you analyze water quality and plant performance data, participate in field investigations, and prepare memoranda, reports, and document results.
Additionally, you will learn and assist in this role as you: design, develop, and optimize advanced water treatment systems and prototypes; review engineering design drawings and specifications; develop test plans and bench, pilot, demonstration, and full-scale plant testing to analyze water quality issues and optimize treatment processes; collect, analyze, and interpret water quality and plant performance data; maintain comprehensive records of engineering processes, experimental setups, and research findings; work with research teams to ensure project milestones are achieved; and perform inspections and quality checks on systems and processes.
Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday /Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field by hired date.
A related field is defined as a discipline within Chemical, Civil, and Environmental Engineering.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
