The Water Quality Reservoir Management Team Manager is responsible for managing and supervising the reservoir management team of professional limnologists and biologists. Areas of team responsibility include source water monitoring and sample collection; support of operations and engineering by applying the science of limnology to develop water quality design criteria; monitoring of invasive mussels; and response to taste and odor events and emerging public health issues. The team is also responsible for evaluating environmental, climatic, and hydrodynamic impacts on source water quality.
As the Reservoir Management Team Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the source water activities for compliance, early warning, contamination events, operations, and resource planning. You will act as project manager on source water quality concerns and issues; prepare proposals, administer contracts, work with internal and external partners, manage and direct the preparation of project reports, manage data, and make presentations, as well as assist with developing team, unit policies, methods, and procedures.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which two years must have been in a project management, supervisory, or lead capacity; or an advanced degree from an accredited college or university and six years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, of which two years must have been in a project management, supervisory, or lead capacity.
Increasingly Responsible Relevant Experience is defined as: Any combination of the following which contributes to an advanced knowledge of limnological water quality issues, monitoring, and drinking water reservoir management: applied and theoretical limnology; relevant drinking water treatment processes and regulations; lake profiling for various water quality parameters; effective management of manganese, sulfide, and other anoxia-related issues; nutrient cycling; remote sensing; hydrodynamic modeling; watershed events and impacts on water quality; aquatic biology and problematic organisms; monitoring for cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins; treating lakes to control problematic cyanobacteria; and monitoring for invasive mussels.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent that allows you to drive during your employment is required at time of application
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a relevant field such as, but not limited to, limnology, aquatic sciences, environmental science, lake management, aquatic ecology, water resources management, or freshwater sciences. North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) Certified Lake Manager highly desirable.
