The Survey and Mapping Technician II position is an intermediate-level position that is responsible with assisting in preparing various mapping products including topographic maps, digital terrain models, legal descriptions, exhibit maps, Record of Surveys, Corner Records, and other boundary maps.
In this position, you will apply basic skills while developing specialized skills in procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment. This position is primarily an office position; however, some minimal field work may be required and may include travel within Metropolitan’s service area.
As a Survey and Mapping Technician II, you will work alongside and assist senior staff with analyzing survey data, interpreting results, and performing various survey mapping functions including but not limited to: engineering drawing reviews, database maintenance, topographic mapping, digital terrain modeling, boundary survey mapping, and other related survey mapping functions.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: A high school diploma or certificate of High School equivalency and four years of progressively increasing responsibility work experience in field and/or office survey work; or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of relevant experience; or two years in a MWD Survey and Mapping Technician I classification.
Relevant Experience is defined as:
Experience working on surveying and mapping projects in the office and/or field, including utilization of survey and mapping software, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software, survey equipment, and performing survey computations.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
