The Pump Plant Maintenance Operator I position is located at the Iron Mountain Pumping Plant and is an intermediate-level position responsible for performing operational activities at the desert pumping plants, including water flow changes, equipment monitoring and inspection, and assisting with equipment maintenance. Other responsibilities include operating, maintaining, and testing domestic water systems within the pump plants and residential facilities.
This position is eligible to rent Metropolitan Water District housing.
Schedule: 8/6 (8 days on, 6 days off or 4/4/8)
Desert Incentive Program:
Should you become a regular full-time employee at one of the remote Desert locations (Eagle, Iron Mountain, Hinds), you would be eligible for Desert Remote Location Pay:
$6,000 upon completion of one year's continuous service at a Remote Location.
$8,000 upon completion of a second consecutive year of continuous service at a Remote Location.
$10,000 upon completion of a third consecutive year of continuous service at a Remote Location.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate and 2 years’ experience as demonstrated by practical application of general and advanced techniques and practices specific to the operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical/low voltage electrical systems in a treatment or pump plant, power generation system, and related facilities.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

• California Department of Public Health Water Treatment Operator Certification Grade II
• Metropolitan High Voltage Switching Certification (Must be obtained within 1 year of entry into position)
Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications:
• Forklift certification
• Manlift certification
Licenses
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) from state of residency that allows you to drive during your employment.
