This Engineer position is an exciting opportunity to work with the Treatment & Technology Unity in the Project Management Section at the Metropolitan Water District!
As the Engineer in this position, you will be responsible for leading project teams in the delivery of capital improvement projects that are fundamental to Metropolitan’s core business initiatives. You will use project management skills to address day to-day management of all project activities as well as assisting or leading the preparation of project proposals; performing and directing planning and scoping studies; and obtaining project funding and authorization through Metropolitan’s Board process. In this position, you will monitor and control project scope, progress, schedules, and budgets. In addition, you will coordinate internal and external customers, and will lead projects through design, bid solicitation, construction, and closeout.
Recent Successes
Members of this team have completed several computer technology related projects including:
• Implemented renovation of headquarters facility projects involving building system controls, including the installation of approximately 6 million dollars’ worth of stadium including audio, video, and voting system.
• SCADA project
• Installation of a new control system for one of Metropolitan’s several hydro-electric power plants.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.
Relevant Experience is defined as: Managing capital projects (scope, budget and schedule) related to upgrading existing control systems, including the water, petroleum, and chemical industries, or experience in the design and installation of new control systems and leading multidiscipline project teams.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS License(s): • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment. • License in good standing as a California Professional Engineer.
