As a Government and Regional Affairs representative reporting to the Legislative Services Section Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities including but not limited to: ongoing and special government relations or community relations projects; analyzing legislation and policy issues; negotiating and resolving difficult and sensitive Metropolitan policy and legal issues and concerns; delivering clear and concise presentations; and working with diverse interest groups to reach a consensus.

This position will need to balance working independently with limited supervision and working as part of a team, in either lead or support roles; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; and establish and maintain collaborative working relationships. As a trusted partner and essential team member, employees in this classification perform work that requires maintaining confidentiality and are routinely privy to matters that either involve confidential information, or exposure to confidential and sensitive strategic information.

The Government and Regional Affairs representative will be predominately focused on the northwest portions of Metropolitan’s service area, in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, including the City of San Fernando. In addition, will have a variety of assignments that can range throughout the entirety of Metropolitan's six-county service area.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years relevant experience.

Relevant Experience is defined as: work experience with government affairs, community relations, or communications/public information officer.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
