As an Associate Engineer on the Substructures Team, you will review external improvement projects from agencies/cities/developers/homeowners/utilities to assess for impacts to Metropolitan’s facilities and rights-of-way. You will also review internal requests which may require leading plan reviews, research, and operational field support.
Project plan reviews include major tract developments, new transportation corridors, street improvements, freeway widenings, and utility installations. You will partner with multi-disciplinary teams to prepare a comprehensive written assessment containing Metropolitan’s comments, concerns, and requirements in response to the proposed project. It also includes engineering reviews of more complex projects that may require project management to mitigate the relocation and/or protection of Metropolitan’s facilities. Your responsibilities will include conducting meetings, negotiating and resolving conflicts with project proponents including agencies/cities/developers/homeowners/utilities on issues that may arise. Projects impacting Metropolitan's facilities and rights-of-way may require performing field inspections for quality assurance and quality control.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level; OR a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience which must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level.
Relevant Experience is defined as: engineering experience reviewing improvement plans and construction equipment; construction means and methods; project management; construction inspection; AND experience with customer service.
