This Engineer position is for the Pipeline Rehabilitation Project Management Team. This position will be responsible for managing treated and raw water conveyance and distribution system projects with an emphasis on pipeline rehabilitation. Projects may include rehabilitation of large diameter pipelines including steel and prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) pipelines, and rehabilitation of pressure control and isolation valve facilities to address corrosion and deterioration issues, or to mitigate seismic or other risks.
As the Engineer, you will be responsible for leading project teams in the delivery of multiple capital improvement projects that are large and above average complexity, are moderate to high visibility and sensitivity, and are fundamental to Metropolitan’s core business initiatives. Your work will involve contact outside of Metropolitan, with member agencies and regional permitting agencies. You will use project management skills to address day- to-day management of all project activities as well as assisting or leading the preparation of project proposals; performing and directing planning and scoping studies; and obtaining project funding and authorization through Metropolitan’s Board process.
In this position, you will monitor and control project scope, progress, schedules, and budgets. In addition, you will coordinate with internal customers such as operations and water resource management, and will lead projects through design, bid solicitation, construction, and closeout phases. You will identify and coordinate environmental assessments and documentation, prepare reports, and utilize standard Metropolitan software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Microsoft Project. This position will require you to provide regular input and updates to Metropolitan’s Capital Investment Plan system and perform other initiatives related to project management or new project evaluations, as needed.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level; OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level.
Relevant Experience is defined as: experience managing capital projects, especially those related to water distribution systems; experience leading multi-discipline teams; experience in design, construction, or project management with facility upgrades, repairs, and rehabilitations.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s):
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time
of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
• License in good standing as a California Professional Engineer (required at time of application).
