As the Assistant Legislative Representative you will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of Metropolitan's state legislative program. In this role, you will help schedule meetings, track the legislative calendar, monitor and report on legislative and administrative hearings, draft position letters, analyze legislation, prepare background materials and respond to requests from legislative and administrative offices and Metropolitan management.
The successful candidate must possess a strong political acumen with a demonstrated ability to achieve desired results. This individual must have excellent analytical and communication skills and be effective in building strategic coalitions and publicly advocating through written and oral testimony.
This position is located in Sacramento.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience of which two (2) years must have been providing support in a legislative office; or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience is defined as: experience working on California policy issues.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
